Client Testimonials

Hi Lee,
We've got home to warm worcestershire and I wanted to thank you for a wonderful holiday.
It was a unique experience - to get close to otters and as a arthritic OAP to stalk them was amazing, and just to be with you and see all the wildlife with professional naturalists eyes was great regardless of the photography.
Thank you so much
Ps Great food too - I now have to lose the weight!

Hi Lee. Just a short note to thank you for another excellent Workshop, this time with the Ospreys. It's the second of your Workshops I,ve attended, and like the first, I thoroughly enjoyed it and I can honestly say I think my photography has improved as a result. Okay, it rained a lot, but so what, that's Scotland for you, but it certainly never put the Ospreys off of their fishing, or indeed the Red Squirrels and the Red Deer.

Thanks once again for a well organised four days of photography, and for the good company.
See you again soon.

Osprey Workshop August 2011
"This was a very enjoyable workshop providing excellent opportunities to photograph these charismatic birds doing what they are famous for, diving to catch fish and carrying them away. Just to be close to ospreys while they are catching fish is an experience not to be missed by any wildlife photographer or birder. The timetable is a busy one from the word go, packed with opportunities to photograph other well known species at the woodland hide and field trips to photograph deer in beautiful settings. I went home feeling I’d been on a real activity holiday and can recommend it to anyone with an interest in wildlife photography".

"You were exceptional, honest, I mean it.  you explained the technical side of photography really well.
You didn't mind being asked the same questions over again. I think you must have the patience of a saint.
I liked how we had a couple of critique sessions, with no pressure to show our photos to anyone if we didn't want to.
Going totally manual was a bit of a shock, and at first I thought no way. But now, aperture priority feels like point & shoot!
Sometimes the weather wasn't great for photography, but you didn't stop teaching us. Even in the car we talked about composition
whilst the rain was hammering on the roof, and also managed to have a brilliant laugh as well.
I had been really looking forward to this holiday since the day I booked it, and it more than lived up to my expectations.
Money very very well spent.
The only problem now is that I am totally hooked and want new gear. I learned a lot about the limitations of my camera & lenses.
So, while I'm saving up I'll continue to learn & stay totally manual.
And Jane, you gave us brilliant food. I've been a cook on St. Kilda for the National Trust work parties that go there, so I know how
important it is that people have good home cooking. It's soul food when you've been out all day in all kinds of weather.
I loved the accommodation, everything was easy going, the bed was very comfy, the shower was good & hot. I'm struggling to give
any constructive criticism about my holiday, 'cos I really think you both deserve 10/10.
By the way, the location is stunning. I live in a pretty cool place myself in the Scottish Borders, but I fell in love with Shetland on approach to Sumburgh airport ............. I hadn't even set foot on the ground! It was beautiful whatever the weather. I'll be back for sure.
Take great care of yourselves & hopefully I'll see you again.
Many thanks for everything.

"More then a holiday it was an once in a life time adventure I will never forget.
The whole week was well organized and ran at a perfect pace with a major focus on practical photography mixed with just the right amount of computer work flow and editing time.
The days were well planned with never a dull moment giving great opportunities to photograph
some of the most beautiful wildlife I have ever seen, I still can't believe how close
we managed to get to some stunning birds and the views, well....... fantastic.
Our many trips around the islands were an incredible experience and our evening outings
were amazing with some great photographic results to review everyday.
Bundle all this with a comfortable hotel, good food and great company and
I would definitely recommend this trip to any keen photographer of any skill level.
I have hundreds of photos still to look at in detail and I am having fun using my new "light room" skills
to bring out the best of my shots.
Finally to say once again thank you and I am sure I will be back for another adventure"
Kind Regards

"Thank you for a wonderful time on your Images in Shetland tour. Your local knowledge and contacts enabled you to place us in the most suitable positions to photograph many species,
and the midnight trip to Mousa was magical.
Also magical was Jane's cooking. She really understands the needs of a group of tired
and hungry photographers!
I have over 5,000 images to edit, which I look forward to doing. I also look forward to the Osprey workshop next year"

Many thanks for a fantastic week despite the weather. I have been taking photographs for many years but for the first time I feel that I understand how to use manual focusing. With your help  I was able to take images of flying gannets and puffins. It took me all week but with your patience and guidance I achieved it some shots that I am very happy with. Fantastic locations lots of wildlife even killer whales. I also took landscapes with a wide angled lens with the wow factor and orchids with a macro. I am looking forward to attending another course next year

I really wasn’t expecting to enjoy it as much as I did, but I absolutely loved every minute and would have liked to stay another week. I think you have the perfect personality for your workshops, really polite, patient, not at all nerdy (!) and not once did I feel left out of anything.
I’ve been so inspired by your photos and knowledge, not just about photos but everything to
Do with nature”

Just wanted to thank you very much for going the extra mile ( actually 2 miles) to give me the awesome opportunity to see the hundreds of Puffins just before we left the Shetlands on Saturday last..I shall never forget the wonderful sight of all those wonderful creatures and in such great light. My pictures were really great and I hope to return to see them in July next year

With best wishes

I would like to say how much we both enjoyed our week with you in Shetland.
I had a list of birds I wanted to photograph before I came, and I am happy to say I got photographs of them all. Some such as the Great Skua and Phalaropes were better than I could have possibly hoped for.
I really appreciate how hard you worked for us. You went out of your way to ensure we saw as much as possible of both the wildlife and Shetland its self, which was covered from north to south and numerous points in between.
We both learned a lot during the week. I now feel confident using the histogram for example, and now try to do more using manual exposure.
Looking at my landscapes I now see an element of composition rather than just snapshots.
I thought our little group got on very well together and it was sad to leave at the end of the week.

"what a brilliant time I had on your Images of Shetland workshop. The accommodation was quiet and very comfortable and Jane provided us with superb food. The fresh air, the excitement of travelling and taking photos seem to give us  larger than normal appetites, which were well satisfied with the tastie meals.
The scenery and wildlife are outstanding on Shetland and with your expert knowledge of where to go made the workshop such a success. You have lots of patience and helped anyone who needed advice. I have been to Shetland twice on your workshops and intend to return again"

I would just like to thank you again for such a fantastic week I had on the landscape course.

Although the weather was not good for landscape at the beginning of the week your local knowledge and ability to change the schedule to wildlife ensured that our time was not wasted.
I have been into photography for a few years but was still amazed at the amount I learned due to your never ending patience and enthusiasm.
And need I say that the accommodation and meals were first class.
When I have gone through the many images I have taken I will send you some and
I will defiantly be recommending your courses to the camera club I am a member off.

"I just wanted to thank you for the fantastic time I had while on the Shetland Nature Workshop.  It was great to give my new camera a real workout and it looks like I managed to remember most of the things you thought me J  I still have about 3,000 images to go through, but I have a lot more keepers this time round!  The extra trip out to see the Tall Ships at sea was amazing, that was great thinking and it’s an experience I will never forget.  There was great company as usual, it’s always nice to meet like minded people and really adds to the experience"

Just to say many thanks for a brilliant week in Shetland. Your guidance, patience and encouragemant has enabled me to improve my photography. I have been on a few courses elsewhere, but you are the first person who really explains how to do things. Even during the 2 days of bad weather you were able to take us to locations where we could photograph, and to get an otter was so exciting. The accommodation and food were excellant. Roll on next year when I will be back.
